Even though cutting and glueing is generally unaccepted, butshaping using glue solutions (in water), especially for complex pieces, is widely practicedIt ls mostly folded from a single square sheet of paper, however, rectangles and other nonsquare sheets are used frequently. In Modular Origami multiple sheets (sometimes hundreds) are used in a single piece.
Complex models can take dozens of hours and require hundereds of creases to complete.
